Beautiful 1956 Chris-Craft Capri 19! Original KLC Engine! No Soak Bottom! All New Decks and Refastened Sides!
In 1956, Elvis Presley hit the charts with \"Heartbreak Hotel\", the epic film \"The Ten Commandments\" dominated the box office, and the first hard disk was invented by IBM (it stored a \"whopping\" 5 megabytes of data). Also making a splash that year was this stylish 1956 CHRIS-CRAFT CAPRI 19 boat.
This vintage Capri has been professionally restored to its original beauty! The only exception is the addition of a \"no soak\" bottom hull. A typical wooden boat stored out of the water for a long time will tend to leak when it hits the water again. This is because the wood planks dry out and shrink out of the water, and then swell up again once the boat is exposed to water.
On this Capri, the bottom hull was upgraded to prevent leaks. Old inner and outer planks were removed and discarded. The framework was repaired/replaced as necessary. Then two layers of marine plywood were installed using 3M 5200 adhesive. These were screwed to the framework with silicon bronze screws. Plywood was faired and sealed with clear penetrating epoxy. Then fiberglass cloth was applied with epoxy resin and sanded smooth. Epoxy primer was applied and then red Interlux paint. Finally, in honor of the original style, Pettit copper bronze paint was applied.
This Capri is powered by the original 120HP Chris-Craft KLC 6 Cylinder engine. (see the video to hear the engine running).
